to be successful

    I think success means happiness to me. In traditional Chinese education, parents and teachers always tell children success meant money, position, reputation or something like that. May it is hard to understand for a people come from another country. When I was a child, I didn't believe the meaning of success they had told me and I had my own understanding of success.
    The opportunities for people to earn a lot of money are limited. if everyone think the only way to be a successful people is to have a lot of money, it is certain to had a lot of losers. Different people have different ways of thinking, Suppose someone had told me that he thought to keep 2 cats would made him happy, I would have thought he was a successful people if he really had 2 cats and it had made him happy.
    I think to be successful is easy for everyone. Obtain even a small goal which will made you happy is enough.

    I am going to finish my R&W exam tomorrow. There is a little time left for me and my classmates to spend together. I was enjoyed with all the R&W classes and I was glad to meet my teacher Julie and other classmates. I will remember all the time we went through together. To see goodbye is always a hard thing, but we still have to say it.
    I am arranged already for the next 3 months. I am going to finish my business English courses and PMP courses. I think the second phase is hard for me, I have to pay a lot to obtain the goals.
    I will go back to China at middle of October. What things are going to be next is difficult to say, maybe I will go to another foreign country to do some work in a pipeline project or maybe I will stay at home to have a baby with my wife. it sounds interesting, after living in Calgary for 3 months, I can't  wait to have a baby for myself, I will raise him/her in my own way, the way must unite advantages from both eastern and western.
    Thanks, Julie and all my friends in Calgary. Considering we already had the opportunity meeting here, I believe we will met in another place later on. See you guys!

life in calgary

    I have been living in Calgary for more than 2 months. It is not my first time living aboard, I had been living in several foreign countries where people doesn't speak English at all. I had overcome a lot of difficulties and obtained my goals there.So, the life in Calgary is an easy experience for me. Although it was not difficult to adjust the lifestyle here, I still found a lot of interesting differences comparing with China.

    the most interesting thing in Calgary is weather. I had never been living in a city of which weather was changing so quickly. it seemed that we could feel different seasons during a single day. the rain always appeared unexpectedly. the weather forecast was hard to be trusted. but if you didn't follow it, there were big surprises waiting for you.So the weather in Calgary was a point made me confused.

    another difference that impressed me is the local people in Calgary. I can see a lot of people everyday, there are several commons of them. The first one is that all of them are courteous. No matter what profession they are, a teenager, a worker or a police officer, they always treat everyone politely even to a stranger. they are willing to help others even through it could take him more than 10 minutes. From their faces, happiness can be seen all the time. I am wondered about the reason of it, I would like every Chinese could live a life fulfill with happiness, but it is hard to simulate the lifestyle here.

    There are also several things different from China, like bedtime and food, but I will try my best to earn a lot from this experience.

The long weekend

the long weekend was a wonderful trip for me. i had been living in Calgary for almost one month, and i had heard about banff national park and jasper national park a lot. in this weekend, i finally had a chance to visit them. it was a exciting travel. we went there with 20 classmates together. i was a driver in this trip, and it was also the first time driving in Canada for me. unfortunately, i was stopped by the police officer on my way back. even I had learned a lot about the traffic laws in Canada, i still didn't notice that i could overtake another car through double yellow lines. it costed me 233 dollars. but whatever, I forgot the unpleasant thing quickly, what i could remember was the snow mountains, blue sky, and all the incredible views.

I took this picture yesterday. It has been more than 15 years since I fell in love with Nirvana. You had been dead for about 20 years, that bullet made you much more unforgettable. I has been deeply influenced by Kurt Cobain and others in your band. Your music has been always there in my mind since i took this picture. I love your classic songs, smells like teenager, about a girl, come as you are, where did you sleep last....Just like in this picture, I was in your shadow and can even seen myself clearly. I enjoy this feeling, but I will try to not be limited in this.

Introduction to my New Friends

My name is Dai Xiaoxue. I come from China and work as a purchasing engineer for our company-CPPMEC. My company arranged me to take part in this English training in U of C to improve our ability of communication in order to make me play a much more important role in an international project in the future. Calgary is a beautiful and friendly city impress me at the first time I arrived. I think i will enjoy the life here with all my classmate and friends.
